What sorts of employment problems do you need legal help for?
Since starting Affording Justice in January, we have been surprised by the high number of queries we get for employment problems, from both employees and small business employers.
Employees tend to want help to:
- make sure they are getting their fair entitlements on redundancy
- protect their rights in an unfair dismissal situation
- deal with workplace harassment and bullying
- see if they have rights under anti-discrimination law, and
- know how all the various laws fit together to protect them in a situation that might have elements of harassment, work injury, discrimination and unfair dismissal all thrown in together.
Small business employers tend to want help to:
- make sure they meet their legal obligations
- document their employment arrangements
- deal with a difficult situation with an employee.
There is a lot of information on the web about Australia’s industrial relations system and the Fair Work Ombudsman’s site is a good place to start. They also have a telephone information service. If you can’t find an answer there, then you can always call us to see if we can help.
